Brokenhead Ojibway Nation - Cultural Healing Lodge Development

The project will consist of the construction of a light loaded, wood-framed, building including foundation, required mechanical and electrical systems, water and wastewater service (potable groundwater well, septic field or holding tank), access road and parking lot, final lot grading and general landscaping for a proposed new Cultural Healing Lodge. The building will be approximately 1,028 m2 in area and may be supported by a system of shallow strip footings or helical piles, end bearing on the natural, stiff clay or glacial till. Site preparation activities will include clearing and grubbing of approximately 0.7 ha of topsoil, grass, shrubs, and/or poplar trees. Erosion control, by way of seeding and silt fencing, will be implemented. Access road/parking lot construction for the new building will include the installation of aggregate material, geotextiles, culverts, ditching, and surface grading. 

Latest update

January 19th, 2025 – The public comment period on the project is closed. Indigenous Services Canada is considering comments received to help inform its determination on whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
