Grassy Narrows First Nation Water and Wastewater System Upgrades

Grassy Narrows First Nation proposes to upgrade the water and wastewater treatment systems in the community to provide effective treatment, distribution and fire protection by replacing the water treatment plant, water tower, raw water intake line, and extend/replace water distribution piping; as well as, construct a new wastewater treatment plant and install two new communal septic systems with the decommissioning of individual septic systems in two residential areas. Decommissioning of aging infrastructure will occur following the commissioning of new systems and facilities.

July 8, 2025  – The public comment period on the project is closed. Indigenous Services Canada issued its notice of determination and determined that the project is not likely to cause adverse environmental effects.
