Public Notice

April 13, 2026 – Winnipeg Airports Authority Inc. must determine whether the proposed 2026 Airfield Improvements Project – Taxiway W & E Resurfacing and Apron V Rehabilitation at Winnipeg Richardson International Airport (YWG), located in Winnipeg, Manitoba is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this determination, Winnipeg Airports Authority Inc. is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online.

The Proposed Project

Winnipeg Airports Authority Inc. proposes to undertake construction for airfield pavement maintenance and reconstruction to maintain safe operational conditions. The project is located on the airfield within the airport restricted area.  Work on Taxiways W and E will include asphalt milling and paving, joint sealing, landscape restorations and underground and above ground electrical work upgrades.  Work on Apron V will include asphalt milling, concrete pavement demolition and disposal, excavation, disposal of granular materials and soil, granular base installation, asphalt pavement construction, concrete pavement construction, pavement joint saw cutting and sealing, underground utility works for land drainage system installations, surface ditching, abandonment of existing wastewater sewer, installation of new wastewater sewer piping and manholes. Work includes chain-link security fence installations, underground and above ground electrical works, landscape restorations and erosion control measures.

The proposed project construction duration is 4 months.
