Anishinabe of Wauzhushk Onigum - Golden Eagle Centre Retrofitting Project

Anishinabe of Wauzhushk Onigum is proposing a retrofit project of the Golden Eagle Centre, located within the community's Business Park, and serves as a cultural and social hub for the community. The facility spans approximately 2,950 m2, with nearly 47% of the space being dedicated to the community and charitable use while the remainder will be leased to a commercial tenant which will benefit to local employment and sustainable revenue generation. The new upgrades are expected to extend the building's lifespan by 25 years. Physical activities include demolition, installation of new building systems (mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and life safety upgrades), installation of new roof structure, exterior insulation and cladding, construction of a new foyer, and improvements to parking, landscaping, and lighting.

October 6, 2025 – Indigenous Services Canada issued its notice of determination and determined that the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
