Black River First Nation Prevention Centre

The objective of this project is to complete the planning, design, and construction of the First Nations Child and Family Services (FNCFS) Prevention Centre for Black River First Nation. The 2,684 square metre facility will provide both indoor and outdoor cultural and age-appropriate space for prevention programming to be used by the community's youth and families. The Project will consist of teaching and work areas, offices, family meeting areas, cultural spaces, fitness and gym spaces, washrooms, support spaces (e.g., IT, mechanical, electrical), detached garage, and storage. Site amenities will include parking and paved walkways, playground, outdoor teaching amphitheatre, natural drainage swales, cultural gathering spaces, and preserved native forest.

Latest update

January 20, 2025 – Indigenous Services Canada issued its Notice of Determination and determined that the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
