Arnes Harbour Manitoba - Routine Maintenance Dredging of the Drunken River at Lake Winnipeg - Winter 2019

Arnes Harbour is located at the West end of Lake Winnipeg at the mouth of the Drunken River, approximately 112 km North of Winnipeg, Manitoba. The harbour is an active commercial fishing facility under the administration of Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) Small Craft Harbours Branch (SCH).

Small Craft Harbours is proposing to undertake routine maintenance dredging at Arnes Harbour.  The scope of this project includes routine maintenance dredging of the harbour channel and commercial fishing loading area to allow safe access for vessels. The proposed dredging will be done from the ice by land based equipment and a silt curtain will be used to isolate the area.  All dredged material will be disposed of on land above the high water mark. The approximate area to be dredged is 1082 square meters, and the approximate total volume of material is 1437 cubic meters.   

Latest update

November 15, 2019 – Fisheries and Oceans Canada issued its Notice of Determination and determined that the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
