Lower Fort Gary Wastewater Treatment Plant Outflow Pipe Replacement

A wastewater effluent outflow pipe is located on the Red River bank of the Lower Fort Garry National Historic Site maintenance area. It is the last section of pipe where treated water is discharged into the Red River. A new corrugated metal pipe will be installed and the former one will be removed and disposed of. The new joint of the pipe to the manhole will be grouted. Bedding material will be used in excavations and under the pipe haunches. A pipe trench of 2 metres in length will be excavated and lined with geotextile and filled with rock (riprap) in order to protect the point of discharge and the associated manhole. The riprap will be graded to match the existing river bank profile. The project will be assessed with a basic impact assessment.
