Grassy Narrows Mercury Care Home - additional Federal Authority

Housing Infrastructure and Communities Canada (HICC) is making this determination in addition to the Notice of Determination that was posted by Indigenous Services Canada June 10, 2024 (Reference Number 88547) because HICC has become a Federal Authority due to the provision of funds for the project.

The proposed project entails both the design and development of the 70,000 sq.ft Mercury Care Home and Treatment Centre and associated works within the site boundaries. The building is modeled after a canoe, a culturally significant motif, and externally includes a parking lot, helicopter pad and walking trails. The designated area for building the walking trails, driveway and parking lot will require a total of approximately 4600m² of tree/bush clearing.

Latest update

Housing Infrastructure Communities Canada (HICC) intends to make a determination regarding whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. To help inform this determination, HICC is inviting public comments until June 19, 2026 respecting that determination.
