Railway Crossings Upgrade - Canadian Forces Base Shilo

The Department of National Defence (DND) has proposed a project to upgrade the railway crossings at Canadian Forces Base Shilo. The upgrades are proposed at three locations with work that includes:

Location 1: Royal Avenue:

  • Construct a sidewalk extension.
  • Crossing approach asphalt resurfacing.
  • Fence post relocation.

Location 2: Base Running Track:

  • Tie replacement.
  • Crossing surface installation.
  • Placement of granular material up to crossing surface.
  • Installation of railway signage.

Location 3: Aldershot Road:

  • Full replacement of railway track through Aldershot Road.
  • Crossing surface installation.
  • Sidewalk extension.
  • Crossing approach asphalt resurfacing.
  • Installation of railway signage.

July 5, 2024— The Department of National Defence issued its Notice of Determination and determined that the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
