ATCO Gas and Pipelines Ltd.: 1088866 Wabasca IR No. 166A Gas Distribution Extension

ATCO Gas and Pipelines Ltd. proposes to expand its natural gas main and feeder lines at Bigstone Cree Nation's Wabasca IR No. 166A. New infrastructure will include the installation of 380 m of distribution and service lines consisting of: 200 m of 60 mm polyethylene distribution line and 180 m of 26 mm polyethylene service line. This new infrastructure is made in addition to initial 1088866 Project "Bigstone Cree Nation & Hamlet of Sandy Lake Gas Feeder and Mains" previously reviewed under a separate posting and review process. Gas line will be installed primarily by trenchless horizontal drilling and line trenching, and will take place alongside previously disturbed roadways, survey lines, and cutlines. A biophysical assessment of the project area and surrounding lands identified a variety of valued ecosystems components which have influenced construction practices and necessitate the use of proponent-developed environmental work practices. Project planning has included the development of environmental management plans to avoid and mitigate negative environmental impacts, and for monitoring or construction activities in accordance with plans approved by Bigstone Cree Nation.
