Loon River Cree Nation Borrow Pit Project

Loon River Cree Nation is proposing to develop a borrow pit located on reserve, Loon Lake Reserve No. 235. The commercial purpose of the project is for extraction of aggregate base materials for the construction of Highway 686. The project area will be 60,000 cubic meters and operational under permits for 5-10 years. The proposed area has not been previously developed, clearing and grading will be required and development of an access road.

End of Public Comment Period 

April 22, 2025 - The public period on the project is closed. Indigenous Services Canada is considering comments received to help inform its determination on whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
