Conservation and Protection Detachment Construction in Rocky Harbour, NL

The DFO-C&P office facility in Rocky Harbour, NL does not adequately accommodate the staff or their storage requirements. The proposed project would construct a new Detachment Office Facility in order to meet DFO-C&P's accommodation requirements in Rocky Harbour, NL. A parcel of 0.502 hectares of land on West Link rd., adjacent to the RCMP Detachment in Rocky Harbour, has been selected as the property to be used for this new construction.  The new Detachment Office Facility will have office and support space in accordance with GCworkplace renewal standards. Additionally, a paved parking lot and an adequate warehouse and compound space with the appropriate turning radius for secure storage of equipment and boats will be constructed on site.

July 3, 2025 – The public comment period on the project is closed. Fisheries and Oceans Canada – Conservation and Protection are considering comments received to date to inform its determination on whether carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
