Chemawawin Cree Nation Transitional Housing Building

The construction of a housing complex for youth who are aging out of the CFS system and do not have access to a safe and supportive residence. 

Complex Specifics:

- 16 self-contained residential units

- 6 self contained professional accomodation units (3 duplexes)

- Central Reception/Security/Monitoring Desk for 24 hr operations

- 3 private professional offices

- Staff and support staff areas

- Central communal dining area

- Central communal kitchen area

- Central gathering space for social and group activties

- Central communal laundry facilities

- Secure design complete with perimeter fencing

- Fully furnished for ready occupancy and delivery of services

- House-hold items provided for both transitioning members, staff and professional service providers

- Water, waste-water and hydro and site-works initial implementation and on-going maintenance coordinated within Chemawawin Cree Nation's O & M Department

August 8, 2024 – The public comment period on the project is closed. Indigenous Services Canada is considering comments received to help inform its determination on whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
