Lac La Croix First Nation Former School Area Remediation

The Proposed Project

Lac La Croix First Nation is located approximately 186 km southeast of Fort Frances, Ontario via Highway 11. The community is accessible by road year-round. The proposed project involves the removal of structures and contaminated soil associated with the former Elementary School and Secondary School Tank Farm areas. The contaminated soil will be excavated and backfilled with clean fill to support future development of the site.

October 5, 2023 – Indigenous Services Canada issued its notice of determination https://iaac-aeic.gc.ca/050/evaluations/document/153179 and determined that the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
