Airfield Telecommunications Infrastructure Upgrades - 5 Wing Goose Bay

The Department of National Defence (DND) is proposing a project to install thirty-three (33) utility vaults and communication duct banks located on the airfield at Canadian Forces Base (CFB) 5 Wing Goose Bay, Newfoundland and Labrador. The proposed duct bank alignment runs adjacent to runway 08/26 and crosses existing infrastructure in 13 locations. Project activities are expected to include excavation, removal and disposal of any encountered existing infrastructure, installation of new utility vaults and communication duct banks and reinstatement of affected areas.

July 9, 2025— The authorities issued their Notice of Determination and determined that the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
