Hi again,

Peter Curley will be the main contact going forward. He is our Atlantic IA Lead. Peter is cc’d.

I’ve updated our response to your questions, but pls do not consider these final until Monday. I’ve updated my comments in green font:

Has PSPC exercised a power or performed a duty or function under any Act of Parliament in relation to the Project; or taken any course of action (including provision of financial assistance, or land transfer) that would allow the Project to proceed in whole or in part?

Presently, PSPC has not exercised a power or performed a duty or function under any Act of Parliament in relation to the Project; or taken any course of action (including provision of financial assistance, or land transfer) that would allow the Project to proceed in whole or in part.

Is it probable that your department or agency may be required to exercise a power or perform a duty or function related to the Project to enable it to proceed? (e.g. land transfer). If so, name the type of authorization and associated Act and identify whether it would involve public/indigenous consultation?

PSPC may be asked to take a course of action such as a lease of land. Where there is no formal agreement in place and solely preliminary discussions have been had to date, a need for public/indigenous consultation has not yet been considered. It should be noted that PSPC leases land to other Federal Departments at this site and thus may require a level of consultation with them.

Is your department participating in the provincial environmental assessment of this project? The registration document for the Project is available at the following link: https://www.gov.nl.ca/ecc/files/2202-Registration-Document.pdf (https://can01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.gov.nl.ca%2Fecc%2Ffiles%2F2202-Registration-Document.pdf&data=05%7C01%7CPortAuPort%40iaac-aeic.gc.ca%7Ccedd551cd3d34c481b7e08dba406263b%7C35d07687f4f24fbc8b3efa87a26b3b7b%7C0%7C0%7C638284119009703070%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=zFYciLZ%2BOy1RQ09S1gA6QIIucqgJP0nTJMP%2BWYmS4pg%3D&reserved=0).

To the best of my knowledge, we have not been involved in the provincial review.  PSPC does have information on species at risk located at or near site.

Thanks,
