The Town of Mayerthorpe is in support of the Moraine Investments Power Generation Project.  The Town of Mayerthorpe anticipates the following impacts:

  • Potential economic spin offs to Mayerthorpe's commercial and industrial businesses:
    • welding fabrication;
    • manufacturing and supply of plastic products;
    • ready mix concrete products and precast concrete;
    • aggregate and heavy construction;
    • trucking and transportation.
  • Potential for workers and their families to locate in Mayerthorpe accessing affordable housing, above average public services, and the many great amenities we have to offer.
  • Potential for subsidiary businesses to locate into shovel ready commercial and industrial properties with high exposure as these lots front onto Highway 43 being the CanaMex Trade Corridor linking Canada to Mexico through the United States and Highway 22 being The Cowboy Trail tourism corridor.
  • Potential to raise awareness of new investment in northwestern Alberta elevating the region's profile as an ideal place for industry to locate.
  • Increased supply to the power grid will result in reduced power interruptions, lessen power consumption restrictions, lessen the need for industry shutdowns during peak consumption, and provide for greater stability in power pricing making the region and province more attractive to investors provincially, nationally and internationally.

Thank you for providing this opportunity to express our support of this most worthwhile project that has the ability to have local and far reaching positive impacts.
