From Long Lake #58 First Nation to the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada re: Comments on the Northern Road Link Project Initial Project Description and Capacity Challenges

Good evening,

I am writing in response to the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada (IAAC) comment opportunity on the Summary of the Initial Project Description for the Northern Road Link (NRL) Project, as posted on the Registry site (Reference Number: 84331). It is understood that the IAAC is determining whether an Impact Assessment is required for the proposed project.

Long Lake #58 First Nation (LL58) does not currently have the required resources to conduct a review of this technical document within the comment deadline. While LL58 has made efforts to be engaged and informed on this project, the restrictive timeline and resource challenges have prevented our participation in this project to-date.

This is a major project that will change the face of northern Ontario forever. LL58’s inability to provide formal comment should not be seen as an absence of concern nor disinterest in the project; we recognize that this is important and hope to engage in a more fulsome manner as the process advances.

Meegwetch,

Kim
