Dakota Tipi First Nation New Jordan's Principle Facility – Public Comments Invited

July 25, 2024 – Indigenous Services Canada must determine whether the proposed New Jordan's Principle Facility, located in Dakota Tipi First Nation is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this determination, Indigenous Services Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online.

The Proposed Project

Construction of a 2220 SM multi use facility located near the existing band office. 

Sub-structure: Cast-in-place concrete friction piles with grade beams (refer to Geotechnical
Report).

- Floor assembly: concrete slab on grade with subgrade preparation per geotechnical report.
- Structure: Load bearing wood stud framing
- Roof: 75% prefabricated wood truss, 25% vaulted glulam exposed structure
- Exterior Envelope: fiber cement siding, standing-seam prefinished steel roof
- Interior walls: wood stud partitions, with acoustic insulation, 16mm gypsum wall board, paint
- Interior ceilings: 2.7m height typical, 3.6m high in MPR
- 50% acoustic ceiling tile system
- 25% painted gypsum board
- 25% exposed wood deck at glulam structure
- Interior floors: Sheet vinyl flooring, with rubber base; Slip resistant sheet vinyl in kitchen; Rubber sports flooring in physio therapy room; Vinyl hand-rails along public corridors (not in administration) and Movable Partition Walls: 3.6m high in MPR (2 locations)
