The Proposed Project

The Fire and Emergency Services Training Institute (FESTI) is a training facility located at 2025 Courtney Park Drive East, Mississauga, Ontario and offers Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting ("ARFF") courses and provides regulatory recertification training using a collection of training props. As per the Canadian Aviation Security Regulations (CARs) 323, the Toronto Pearson Fire and Emergency Services' (TPFES) firefighters and external fire departments are required to perform annual aircraft rescue firefighting (ARFF) recertification for regulatory live fire training using the ARFF mock-ups. The existing Aircraft Prop Systems (APS) and associated components have been in operation for over 20 years and are at the expected life of the original installation and require replacement.

The proposed Project work will include the following:

  • Enabling works (access road, laydown, material storage, construction delineation, etc.).
  • Decommission and remove existing ARFF props and associated components.
  • Supply and install new large APS, new 5,000 sq.ft spill fire surrounding the large APS, new control tower and new small APS.
  • Reimplementation of the closed loop water recirculation system that is in place but currently not being used.

A new liner will be installed above the existing liner located under the large and small APS training areas.
