Proposed Project

Hatchet Lake Denesuline Nation is proposing to construct a new facultative lagoon to replace the existing wastewater treatment lagoon. The new lagoon will be approximately 243,000m3. The treatment cells will have a maximum liquid depth of 1.5 m and the storage cells will have maximum liquid depth of 2.1 m. The project will also include upgrading and replacement of existing three sewage pumping stations and two new force main extensions to a new location. The existing lagoon will be decommissioned. This project will service the Hatchet Lake Denesuline Nation, Reserve No. 220 and the Northern Settlement of Wollaston Lake.

Minimal construction waste will be generated, which will be deposited in the local landfill located on the reserve.  No hazardous waste is expected to be generated by this project.
