The National Research Council of Canada (NRC) is proposing the construction of a pedestrian pathway to provide accessible pedestrian access from the intersection of Paul Benoit Private and Silver Star Private to various research facilities within NRC's Uplands Campus (Buildings U61, U62 and U72). The project will improve the accessibility and the usability of the Upland's campus. With the implementation of the future extension of the light rail train to the nearby MacDonald-Cartier Airport, it is anticipated that there will be more pedestrian traffic to buildings U61, U62, and U72.

The proposed project would take place on National Research Council Canada (NRC) lease lands to the Ottawa MacDonald-Cartier airport authority. Since the project is located within the National Capital Region, the National Capital Commission (NCC) has a role under the National Capital Act, as part of the Federal Land Use, Design and Transaction Approval (FLUDTA) process

The project consists of the construction of a sidewalk and a landscaping plan. No vegetation removal is anticipated for this project. The project work would take approximately five months from start to completion (August 2024 to November 2024).
