The Proposed Project

The Ottawa International Airport Authority and Canadian North are proposing to construct a new cargo facility outside of the airfield at 145 Thad Johnson Private, Ottawa, Ontario.

The 42,646 sq ft cargo facility will allow for expanded refrigeration to safeguard perishable and temperature-sensitive shipments for Canadian North. The facility will be accessible by public road access via Thad Johnson Private and will accommodate loading docks for truck delivery and around 100 parking spots. The new facility will provide significant improvements of the transportation fluidity of goods to and from remote northern communities.

The project is subject to a federal land use and design approval by the National Capital Commission (NCC) under the National Capital Act. The NCC will conduct an environmental review as per section 82 of the Impact Assessment Act. The Ottawa International Airport Authority and Transport Canada have completed their section 82 determination of this project under the Canadian Impact Assessment Registry Reference Number 84561.
