 Brokenhead Ojibway Nation - Elder's Lodge – Public Comments Invited

January 24, 2024 Indigenous Services Canada must determine whether the proposed Brokenhead Ojibway Nation - Elder's Lodge, located in Brokenhead is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this determination, Indigenous Services Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online.

The Proposed Project

To create a 20-unit residence to somplement the existing seniors housing and fulfill the community's long desired wish for increased services for their elders. 

Infrastructure: Graded lot, drainage, driveway and parking lot construction, overhead power lines, water service design, sewer service design. 

Activities: Clearing and grubbing, environmental site assessment, lot grading and drainage, driveway and parking lot construction, lot development, geotechnical study. 

Waster Generation: Solids - Any solid waste that cannot be reused will be removed to the community landfill or another licensed landfill as appropriate. Gaseous - During construction, the equipment will emit exhaust gases and particulate matter. Maintaining construction equipment to good working order and running equipment only when necessary to help minimize emissions. Hazardous Materials - Fuel and/or other substances that may be requeired on site during construction will be properly labelled and contained to avoid spillage or misuse. Spill kits will be kept on site durning construction. Liquid - Best management practices will be used during construction to prevent erosion and dedimentation in adjacent water bodies.
