The Proposed Project

New Fibre Installation

H&M COFI plans to install underground fiber optic cabling, for Internet purposes, to all residential homes in the region of Huron Shore and Manitoulin Island, specifically along Hwy 17.  The project involves the installation of approximately 1200 Km of underground and aerial fiber optic cable from the Sault St. Marie to the Sudbury regional sites. Some sections of the fiber cabling and associated Project Sites may be located within or close to Federal Lands. These locations are listed above. The fiber installations in these areas are most likely to be ariel implementations.

Some of the cable will be buried by directional drilling, trenching, or using existing conduits, or a combination of these methods in existing roadway alignments, but will be suspended on support structures to connect to residential homes and businesses.
