Removal of Tank #3 - 14 Wing Greenwood Central Heating Plant

July 20, 2022 — The Department of National Defence must decide whether the proposed project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this decision, the Department of National Defence is inviting comments from the public on the project and its potential effects on the environment. All comments received will be considered public. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website.

The Proposed Project

The Department of National Defence (DND) is proposing to remove the 120,276 litre Tank #3 and associated piping at the Central Heating Plant. After the tank is removed, the structural galvanized steel access stairwell and walkway will be re-installed/re-supported to maintain access to the top of the remaining tanks. Secondary containment around the existing tanks will be re-established.
