Notice of Time Limit Suspension with Reasons

Ottawa — June 13, 2023 — On June 9, 2023, the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada (the Agency) suspended the 180-day time limit within which it must provide Moraine Initiatives Ltd. (the proponent) with a notice of the commencement of the impact assessment of the Moraine Power Generation Project (the project), if the Agency decides that an impact assessment of the project is required.

The Agency has taken this action further to a written request from the proponent that the time limit be suspended in order to extend the comment period to recognize the extenuating circumstances arising from the ongoing wildfires in Alberta and their impacts on communities and stakeholders. Comments on the proponent's Initial Project Description for this project will continue to be accepted online by visiting the project homepage on the Canadian Impact Assessment Registry until July 7, 2023.

When this activity is completed on July 8, 2023, the Agency will post a notice that the 180-day time limit will resume.
