The Proposed Project:

The Kwikwasut'inuxw Haxwa'mis First Nation (KHFN) aims to construct a new seawall and bioengineered slope to address natural threats to KHFN's Village of Gwa'yas'dums on Gilford Island. Construction of these assets would protect critical infrastructure and services within the community, and reduce risk of population displacement due to natural hazards. Project activities would occur on the KHFN's Gwayasdums No. 1 Indian Reserve lands.

The project would involve the following components:

  • Site preparation works;
  • Construction of new seawall, boardwalk, and bioengineered slope;
  • Excavation and installation of supporting infrastructure and associated works in project area; and
  • Various restoration, drainage, and accessory works.
