The Proposed Project

The Department of National Defence (DND) is proposing a project which will involve slope and shoreline stabilization at a private residence in View Royal, BC. The project is being undertaken to provide safe access to the shoreline and stabilize the upland bank. This project has been designed to improve the ecological footprint of the upland areas through the use of native plants, removal of invasive plant species and protection of existing trees on the property. The proposed project will see the installation of gabions along the shoreline, which will follow the present natural boundary of the shoreline. Some of the proposed work will occur below the high-water mark within DND's Controlled Access Zone in Esquimalt Harbour.
