Replacement of Geotextile Blast Walls – Canadian Forces Ammunition Depot (CFAD)

September 12, 2022 — The Department of National Defence must decide whether the proposed project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this decision, the Department of National Defence is inviting comments from the public on the project and its potential effects on the environment. The Proposed Project

The Department of National Defence (DND) is proposing to carry out replacement of three sections of geotextile blast wall within the Explosives Area at Canadian Forces Ammunition Depot, totaling 190 meters in length. Project activities will generally include removal and stockpiling of gravel from existing blast wall structures; proper disposal of geotextile from existing blast wall; rebuilding blast wall with new geogrid mesh and stockpiled gravel; and restoration of all areas affected by construction to original or better conditions prior to construction.
