Atomic Energy of Canada (AECL) has determined that the proposed Waste Management Area Office Complex at AECL's Chalk River site is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

The project activities are will be occurring within a previously disturbed area, altered from its natural state for human/operational use.  No additional land conversion will occur as a result of this project.

These activities are not anticipated to have an impact on any listed wildlife species, its critical habitat or residences with the implementation of the mitigation measures, such as turtle exclusion fencing which will be installed and maintained throughout the duration of the Blanding's turtle active season.  Species at Risk awareness training will be provided to all workers at the site and CNL Environmental Services will be notified if any species at risk are sighted during project activities.

As the federal authority Atomic Energy of Canada gives permission to Canadian Nuclear Laboratories to carry out the project.
