Ne-Ask-Gila Guaw Creek Dam Decommissioning – Public Comments Invited

July 19, 2022 – The Indigenous Services Canada must determine whether the proposed Ne-Ask-Gila Guaw Creek Dam Decommissioning located on Kitsumkalum IR#1 outside of Terrace, British Columbia is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this determination, the Indigenous Services Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination.

The Proposed Project

The proposed project includes decommissioning of Ne-Ask-Gila Guaw Creek Dam. The dam is a concrete structure that was constructed in 1981. It is approximately 4.5 m high and 11 m wide. The dam was constructed to provide a water supply to the Kitsumkalum First Nation community, but is no longer in use.
