January 14, 2022 – Indigenous Services Canada has determined that the proposed Pictou Landing New Subdivision Development is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

This determination was based on a consideration of the following factors :

• Impacts on rights of Indigenous people
• Indigenous knowledge
• Community knowledge
• Technically and economically feasible mitigation measures

Please note that no public comments were received during the 30 day comment period.

Mitigation measures taken into account for this determination are :

• Impacts to surface and groundwater
• Impacts to the land
• Impacts to flora and fauna
• Impacts to air and noise
• Impacts to Socio-economic, culture and heritage

Indigenous Services Canada is satisfied that the carrying out of the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

Therefore, Indigenous Services Canada mat carry out the project, exercise any power, perform any duty or function, or provide financial assistance to enable the project to be carried out in whole or in part.
