The Royal Canadian Mounted Police must determine whether the proposed Exterior Upgrades - Moncton District Office, located in Moncton, is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

The Proposed Project

The scope of the project involves obtaining the services of a consultant to provide a design and provide construction support for:

1. Perform repairs to damaged brick veneer and mortar around detachment exterior. Work to include replacing damaged brick masonry as required and re-point all around exterior.

2. Inspect all flashings and caulking at openings for deterioration and repair/replace as required.

3. Investigate and replace existing windows - approximately 65 windows. Install new window flashings along window ledge to prevent water infiltration.

4.All exterior walkways, stairs and retaining wall to be re-designed and re-constructed.

5. Repair/removal of the leaky conduit running through the building foundation. After the design is complete a contractor will be obtained to complete construction activities.

The facility located at 161 MACBEATH Avenue, Moncton, New Brunswick is in an developed urban environment and is approximately 700 Meters to the nearest water source. The landscape is mainly flat with some gently rolling hills nearby. The exterior paving will exceed 1000 meters squared and therefore is not exempt from the Impact Assessment Act process.
