The Proposed Project

Construction of a new solid waste transfer station (SWTS). The new transfer station has been design for 25 years period, the initial construction contract will accommodate waste projections for the first 15 years.  The solid waste will be hauled 222 kilometers to the La Ronge SW landfill.  The SWTS is constructed on a new site location ~ 13 kilometers from the community on provincial land. The new site is ~ 2 kilometers from the existing landfill. The new SWTS includes grade separated roll off bins for waste disposal.  There will be a site operator trailer provided at the location and recycle (metals) bins also.  The existing landfill will be closed but a full closure of the existing landfill is not in the project scope currently.  The construction contract will include shaping the existing solid waste into a mound and covering with 300mm of sand. The landfill can be capped and final closure to occur in the future.  The project will supply a roll off trunk/trailer (to haul to La Ronge) and also a garbage collection truck for collection in the community.  Finally a garage will be built in the community to park the two new trucks inside.
