The Proposed Project
Weenusk First Nation is undergoing an upgrade to their diesel generating station (DGS), which will result in better operational capacity and reduced liabilities from operating this system. This upgrade involves replacing the fuel tanks with new ones to ensure that any leaks are minimized and more fuel capacity is obtained to ensure that electricity can be generated for a longer amount of time between fueling of these tanks. The proposed project calls for decommissioning the current tanks at the site and decommissioning them according to all fuel tank regulations at both the provincial and federal level. These tanks will then be hauled out of the community, and the new tanks installed according to current best practices and regulations.
