Description: Diavik Diamond Mines Inc. and Aber Diamond Mines Ltd. have submitted a proposal to mine four diamond deposits at Lac de Gras, about 300 km northeast of Yellowknife.
Decision of the Minister of the Environment: On November 1, 1999, following a review of public comments and the environmental assessment report, the Minister concluded that the project is unlikely to cause significant adverse environmental effects and referred the project back to the responsible authorities for appropriate next steps.
Federal Responsible Authorities: Indian and Northern Affairs Canada, Fisheries and Oceans Canada and Natural Resources Canada
