• In the 1980's and 90's a proposed mine in this 'general area' of Vavenby/Birch Island lead to a 10 year moratorium on even 'testing' in the area. I would like to see a complete release on the presence of  this element and its affects...... released to the public at all open houses and in the local media. It seems difficult for me to understand how an element with a 'half-life' of thousands of years can have somehow 'disappeared' in 30 short years.  It would be also expedient to explain how this same company will 'ensure' that a similar 'incident' as has recently happened in the Soda Creek area ( and the total inability to 'clean up' the damage) can be relied on for this valley?? ( hint: that is not possible) As we residents will be 'breathing this air' for the rest of our lives - how does the government and the company propose to 'regulate' the dust from an 'open ...

• Having seen two proposed routes for the transmission line from One Hundred Mile to the mine, both running north of Highway 24 and south of Deka Lake, I have to say I vehemently object to these routes. There is a significant population in this area, which is set to expand in the future, many lots are only 1 acre or less, to run the line so close to these properties will severely impact property values and people's health. This is also a tourist area and will have a negative impact on that. We own a small home on 1/2 acre at Deka Lake, it's unbelievable that people have not been officially notified and given an opportunity to voice their concerns or request an alternative route. Please look at options to route the Hydro line further from a nucleus of population and through as much Crown Land as possible to avoid such negative impacts for private property owners.

• We have been property owners, recreators, and observers in the Barriere River valley for 50 years.  During that time we have appreciated the beauty of the area and the slow recovery of the natural setting following the removal of the dam at the month of North Barriere Lake and extensive logging up the Harper Creek valley.   We have been particularly encouraged by the number of salmon species returning to spawn in River.  Those species returned in much smaller number in our earlier years in the valley.  The return of the sockeye salmon is an event we look forward to, as do the many fishers angling for the large trout tagging behind the spawners.  We noticed last year that there was a very large return of pink salmon downstream of North Barriere Lake and the month of Harper Creek.  The number of post-spawning dead pinks was noteworthy not just because of the odour created but more importantly the food and nutrient input they made to the ...

• Hello,   I would like to give some feedback in regards to the power line route and construction for this project. From what I see, it looks like there are two proposed routes. One being more direct and the other seeming to keep away from lakes and those properties a bit more. I am a resident in the Deka lake neighbourhood on the south side near where the planned routes are. It is not clear from the communication from the company and government on exactly where these lines are. It definately does not make sense to route them anywhere near the residental area or even right to the south. The main reason for this is that this is destined to be an area of residental expansion. There is already a reasonable population during the recreational months that this will affect. To put the lines too far to the north would be doing so without any forward thinking. The reason is that there will be more activity than in the past, and parking is already an issue on Vavenby Mountain Road and Jones Creek Road. I want to be sure that we have year-round access to the Harp Mountain Cabin, which is owned by the Clearwater Snowdrifters.

• I oppose the path proposed for the Transmission line, it is planned to cut through private properties and sensitive habitat. Specifically it will affect not only my property, which is in the direct path, but also my business that I have spent over 8 years developing.  I have an off-grid farm and business and having large power transmission towers running through the property or nearby landscape is something I am opposing as it will completely ruin my business.  If Taseko Mining is interested in continuing this project, I recommend they follow existing routes that will not damage local habitat that is already strained and under severe stress from forest fires and logging with no replanting. Further infrastructure and construction will only harm it more and damage the already dwindling population of wildlife in the region. •         In Taseko's online documentation for the poposed Yellowhead copper mine proposal, the geographic location and detailed plan view can be seen on maps and is well described in the text, but very little mention is made regarding which major watershed or watersheds the proposal lies within. All land surfaces everywhere can be described as being within some watershed (drainage area) or other. Since watersheds can be described in a hierarchical way (tributaries of tributaries), It is necessary to choose the scope at which we define and describe a watershed.          I suggest that one might best describe the watersheds within the project footprint on the basis of direct tributaries of the North Thompson River. For example, it appears to me on a quick assessment of the mapping that that a significant portion of the project footprint lies within the watershed of the Barriere River and its tributaries.
