Integrated Nutrition, WASH, and Protection Response: DRC and Syria

Political instability, conflict and natural disasters have left about 40.7 million people across the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Syria in need of humanitarian assistance. Populations face insecurity, malnutrition, and limited access to clean water and adequate sanitation. Also, hunger, displacement and conflict increase the risk of sexual and gender-based violence, especially for the most vulnerable.

With GAC's support, this project provides a multi-sectoral response targeting an estimated 105,978 people in DRC and Syria. Project activities include: (1) screening, referring, and treating girls and boys (under 5 years old) suffering from acute malnutrition; (2) training local stakeholders on promoting good nutrition practices for children under 5 years old; (3) providing access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene training and supplies to health and nutrition centers and communities; (4) providing services and referrals for survivors of sexual and gender-based violence; and (5)integrating messaging and information to raise awareness on sexual and gender-based violence (GBV), including how to report and access care across activities.
