Purchase of zero-emission vehicles and charging infrastructure to enhance the transit system in Horse Lake First Nation
This is a non-designated project on federal lands or outside Canada. The listed authorities are responsible for the project assessment.
The proposed project intends to replace the existing fleet of three school buses and mini buses with electric ones, and pave an existing 3 km road so that the purchased vehicles may access it. The Project is led by the Horse Lake First Nation and is located on their reserve lands near Hythe, Alberta.
Project works include:
- Purchase of six electric vehicles
- Purchase and installation of six charging stations
- Installation of ~3 km of asphalt on existing road surfaces.
The Project will not involve works in or near water. The Project is not anticipated to require vegetation clearing, however it may required excavation. The Project will take place on federal lands (Horse Lake Indian Reserve) and has requirements under section 82 of the Impact Assessment Act (IAA).
