The ACO mandate is to preserve our significant cultural heritage and this would include safeguarding the trees that might be cut for the expansion and the intrusion into the Kossuth Bog, which is a significant Ontario wetland. Why spend money and destroy an ecosystem for the "benefit" of an airport who has a proven history of not being successful in attracting long-term airlines? Many different airlines have attempted to operate out of Breslau, with little success. The environmental issues are huge - as stated above.  This project would once again force wildlife and ecosystems elsewhere. I personally don't see the airport growing to the capacity it hopes for. A concerned citizen of Breslau who has been living here for 24 years.

There is almost no need to people to travel abroad for business anymore. I know this directly, I work for a Swiss company to which I used to travel regularly, however I don’t need to anymore due to these virtual meeting SW platforms. He was a prominent environmentalist friend and we were engaged in the research and recording of significant Environmentally Sensitive Areas throughout the Region. • This proposed airport expansion is the wrong direction for many reasons: The Waterloo Airport has been unsuccessful in attracting long term airlines for many years.  We've seen many different airlines attempt to operate from here, with little success.   This is only going to get harder now;  the pandemic has permanently changed the airline industry, as there will be many fewer business travelers flying anywhere.  The entire industry will be very dependent on the personal travel market, which is far more cost conscious and less convenience driven.  Waterloo Airport can't compete with the large airports (Pearson) for variety of destinations and times, and can't compete on price against Buffalo and Detroit.   Given the increasing costs of jet fuel due to the increasing carbon taxes, it may be a stretch to assume continuing growth in short haul air travel.  Waterloo Airport is dependent on funding from the region, ...

• I have read the entire project description and have come to the conclusion that the substantial negative impacts on such a significant wetland is far too great to proceed with the very expensive runway expansion. We need to protect our natural heritage - not destroy it! There is not enough compelling evidence to support extending runway 14-32 for the sake of avoiding the occasional minor inconvenience. It is simply not worth destroying our wetlands!
