Resident of Sturgeon County

I oppose the proposed AI data centre in Sturgeon County because of the significant demands it could place on local infrastructure, utilities, and natural resources.

Large data centres require enormous amounts of electricity and water to operate. Before this project moves forward, residents deserve clear answers about how these resources will be supplied, what the environmental impacts will be, and whether local taxpayers could ultimately bear any of the costs for infrastructure upgrades.

I am also concerned about the long-term effects on agricultural land, wildlife habitat, and the rural character of our community. While economic development is important, it should not come at the expense of responsible land stewardship and the quality of life of current residents.

The benefits of the project should be carefully weighed against its environmental footprint, increased industrialization, and potential strain on public services. I urge decision-makers to proceed cautiously, require full transparency, and ensure that local residents’ interests are protected before any approvals are granted.
