Datacenters are eyesores

Datacenters are useless eyesores. Not only do they not provide any revenue, they only provide a handful of  jobs most of which will be remote and require higher education, none of which help the communities they are built in.

They also require massive amounts of power and cooling both of which are not readily available (Edmonton still has rolling blackouts....)

Then there is the extra noise for the costant cooling & light pollution because for some reason those buildings need to be brighter than the sun.

I am completely opposed to any datacenter being built in any rural area, there are plenty empty buildings in the big cities that can be converted for this.
