False information and no actionable guarantees when the plant is not run as advertised and ruins more land in Pictou County.

The Conservative leader, Marco MacLeod, is blindly following a private company. If there is truly no risk to wells in the area, why is there no agreement in place that holds the company accountable if wells run dry or if the well water is no longer drinkable?

If the plant is supposed to operate only as a backup power source, why is there no guarantee regarding the number of hours it will operate?

From the information provided, there are no assurances to hold the company accountable if water becomes contaminated or wells go dry. There is also nothing addressing sound pollution or the devaluation of land in the surrounding area.

Meetings regarding the construction of this plant were not widely advertised, and invitations were not even sent to those — including myself — who have been actively contacting the local MLA with questions and concerns about the project.

As has been seen in other areas of Pictou County, there will likely be years of court litigation to determine responsibility for the damage caused by this plant, as MacLeod appears short-sighted and focused only on his current term in office.

There must be guarantees regarding water protection, hours of operation, and the amount of diesel involved with the plant.

This is not clean energy. When looking at the plant as a whole, including its long-term environmental impacts, MacLeod and the company he supports are providing false information and misleading perceptions.
