The Baptiste Project stands out for its innovative use of awaruite mineralization, enabling magnetic separation processing without traditional high-emission smelting, combined with access to low-carbon hydroelectric power. This positions it as a forward-looking contributor to Canada’s critical minerals supply chain for stainless steel and clean energy technologies, all while maintaining strong environmental stewardship through modern reclamation, monitoring, and a relatively small surface footprint.

We particularly appreciate FPX’s genuine focus on community and Indigenous partnerships—including the establishment of a local office in Fort St. James, regular open houses, transparent engagement, and emphasis on shared benefits. In a region long reliant on forestry—now facing mill closures, workforce reductions, and economic uncertainty—projects like Baptiste offer a vital path to diversification. The potential for long-term, stable employment, local procurement, and infrastructure improvements will provide meaningful economic stability and opportunities for families, businesses, and communities across Fort St. James, Vanderhoof, and surrounding areas. FPX’s approach to prioritizing local hiring and training further strengthens this positive impact, ensuring benefits flow directly to those who live and work here.

From our perspective as a long-established local contractor with over 20 years of experience in the Vanderhoof and Fort St. James districts—including professional forestry services, road access development, site clearing, timber management, hauling, and rehabilitation—we are excited to support a project of this caliber.
