Nuclear Reactor plant Port Hope

I object to the plan to build a nuclear Power plant that will et up farm land, decimate communities in the neighborhood for over 20 years of construction, and seriously put at risk our Great Lakes water supply for the forceable future.  Have we not explored energy options that are not going to ruin our natural resources, which will become clearly less safe in the coming years?  This has not been well publicized as well, for all those living anywhere near this would completely adversely affected why has the government not brought this much sooner to the public, and more widely publicized.
