I am a ward two resident of Port Hope, living approx 5km from the proposed Nuclear facility at Wesleyville.Questions and concerns are many,at the possibility of the largest nuclear facility in rural Port Hope, beside beautiful Lake Ontario, and in a largely agricultural setting where farming is a way of life for many residents..
There are also designated nature areas along Lakeshore Road near Wesleyville, which would be impacted by such a huge plant,as the one being proposed. There would need to be a buffer zone around the plant, so that would also affect the beautiful historic road,Lakeshore road and also just up from the historic village of Wesleyville. There should be nothing less then a full environmental assessment that shows the total land to be utilized, not just the reactor site itself, water sourcing, discharge, agricultural and environmental impacts.Independent studies of the hydrogeological assessments and possible economic impact on agricultural vs energy jobs.Concerns on the health impacts and emissions from the plant as well as the waste that will be produced and housing it.I do hope this proposed nuclear facility will not go ahead and you consider the impacts for future generations this could have.- Présenté par
