Opposition to Proposed Centre Village Renewables Integration and Grid Security Project

As a resident of the neighbouring community of Sackville, I am writing to express my opposition to the proposed gas power plant and my frustration with the process undertaken thus far. At a time when climate change is more immediately threatening to our region than ever, it would be far better to invest in clean, renewable sources of energy to stabilize our grid, rather than investing in a fossil fuel-based project. The potential threats to our local ecosystem outlined by EOS, Ducks Unlimited, and other local experts are alarming and should be a clear ground for requiring a comprehensive EIA prior to proceeding with the plant. The lack of transparency surrounding this project, the selection of ProEnergy as the developer and operator of the project, and the speed with which the project is advancing demostrate a shameful disregard for local stakeholders.
