choose life over capital

I am writing as a resident of Sackville who strongly opposes the proposed project. The community--those of us who will be directly impacted by the deleterious health and environmental effects of this specific project--have spoken collectively and knowledgeably about the various reasons that this project is dead on arrival. The claims about the project's potential connection to "net zero" goals seem dubious. From a broader perspective, even the World Bank, so often an ally of companies like ProEnergy, acknowledged several years ago that “we’re on track for 4 degree Celsius warmer world by century’s end marked by extreme heat waves, declining global food stocks, loss of ecosystems and biodiversity, and life-threatening sea level rise. There is also no certainty that adaptation to a 4 degree Celsius world is possible.” The only certainty is that projects such as this one sow the seeds of future planetary and social devastation.
