In the 1980's and 90's a proposed mine in this 'general area' of Vavenby/Birch Island lead to a 10 year moratorium on even 'testing' in the area. I would like to see a complete release on the presence of this element and its affects...... released to the public at all open houses and in the local media.
It seems difficult for me to understand how an element with a 'half-life' of thousands of years can have somehow 'disappeared' in 30 short years.
It would be also expedient to explain how this same company will 'ensure' that a similar 'incident' as has recently happened in the Soda Creek area ( and the total inability to 'clean up' the damage) can be relied on for this valley?? ( hint: that is not possible)
As we residents will be 'breathing this air' for the rest of our lives - how does the government and the company propose to 'regulate' the dust from an 'open pit' mine?? (hint: no man can control the wind) However - I will look forward to hearing the 'official version'.....
I think of the near by Parks and Waterways - how do these 'factor in' to the over all planning..... (Hint: I've not seen any 'realease' from the official government people ---- ( perhaps I've missed something )- please enlighten us all as to ......How 'they see' that this will effect Tourism .... Farming... even Forestry??
Answering these questions will greatly relieve my worries
